About the design Raven:

"My Indigenous artwork is a way for me to learn my ancestral language; while I work on the illustration of an animal, for example, I can learn its name or other words relating to it in the Nisga'a language. I illustrated a raven or 'gaak' in the Nisga'a language; these corvids are known for their brilliance in imitating sounds and speech, and they remind me of the importance of language revitalization."

About the artist:

Chantelle Trainor-Matties is an artist from British Columbia, Canada, with Nisga’a, Métis, and mixed European ancestry who specializes in illustration, graphic design, painting, as well as mural work. She works for herself and does contract work for private and commercial clientele through her small business, Frettchan Studios. Her work ranges from bold contemporary Northwest coast formline relating to her Nisga'a roots to charming cartoons to painterly realism.
